It’s not just the firefighter neighbors who will drop in on Chicago PD, NBCs midseason police-centric Chicago Fire spin-off. Dick Wolf’s new cop show gets an official welcome to the Law & Order family when SVU detectives Fin (Ice-T) and Rollins (Kelli Giddish) share their expertise in an episode most likely airing after February’s Winter Olympics, TV Guide Magazine has learned exclusively.

The New York sex-crime cops visit the Windy City precinct, PD executive producer Matt Olmstead confirms, for “a case that involves a serial rapist/killer, who the cops believe started his spree in New York and moved on to Chicago. Finn and Rollins are brought in by Detective Voight [Jason Beghe] who heads the [Intelligence] Unit,” Olmstead says. “They work very well with their Chicago counterparts.” Sounds like a return crossover visit to the Big Apple could be in the future.

Chicago PD premieres Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 10/9c, following Law & Order: SVU (9/8c).

Got any SVU scoop? — Lisa
ADAM: Have you been thinking, “Boy, Detective Rollins could really use a boyfriend”? Executive producer Warren Leight has! “We’ll have an episode where Rollins has a relationship with someone she’s met at Gamblers Anonymous,” he says. But this coupling might be doomed before it even starts. “[It’s] what they call the 13th step — when you join a 12-step program and then a guy who’s been in the program for a while hits on you and starts dating you,” Leight says. “She’ll be in a 13th-step relationship, and those are often not healthy ones.”

Law & Order has been a staple television show for decades, and with so many spin-offs we’re sure you’ve been a fan of at least one. We had the pleasure of sitting down with one of the many beloved stars of Law & Order: SVU, blonde bombshell Kelli Giddish, to dish about her costars, her friendship with Ice-T’s wife Coco and what it’s like to star on one of the biggest shows on TV. Law & Order. Why do you think everyone is always too busy to talk to you guys?

Giddish: [Laughs] I don’t know; I know that my character can Google anything. They always tease me that I should write a book on how to find anything. I feel like my character is always coming into a scene saying, “Well I was just Googling this in the last ten seconds and have all the information that we need for act three.” The thing is that I’m such a dork when it comes to computers. My wireless internet has been down for a week and I have no idea how to fix it, but here I am playing this character on TV that can just do anything she wants. Your character is going through some epic stuff right now. What was it like reading the script for the first time?

Giddish: I read the script like it was a huge secret. I held myself up in my dressing room and I read the whole thing, front to cover, and just sat there. I was really excited and also nervous to be able to portray my character as the primary storyline throughout the episode; it was a real treat.
